In 2011 we received a 3 year accreditation

Accreditation of a health services organization is a designation given by the Accreditation Canada.  Accreditation Canada is a non-profit, non-government organization that helps health services organizations across Canada examine and improve the quality of care and services they provide to their clients.

Accreditation Canada's mandate is to help health service organizations achieve a greater degree of service excellence by identifying their strengths and areas for improvement. With this knowledge, short and long-term plans can be developed to enhance client services. Accreditation is based on a three-year cycle. It is one of the most effective measures that health organizations can take to accurately assess their performance at a national level. The accreditation process is voluntary.

Accreditation is an intensive process involving many employees who work in teams to determine how the organization is achieving excellence in service to its clients and identify areas that may need improvement. It is a process undertaken by organizations committed to continuously improving their service quality.
Accreditation Process is a Self-Assessment Process followed by a Peer Review.  The organization seeking accreditation measures its own compliance against national standards. Key areas which are examined during the accreditation process include client care and the delivery of services, information management practices, human resources and governance.

Peer Review Process: Surveyors from Accreditation Canada survey and use the same national standards to independently measure the organization. The findings from the survey are summarized in a written report and focus on the organization's strengths and areas for improvement. Recommendations are made to help the organization develop plans to improve areas which are weak and maintain areas which are strong.
