Life at Haro Park Centre

Haro Park Centre offers a wide variety of recreational, therapeutic, social, leisure and educational activities and services to elders and tenants.  We have events throughout the year as well as many extra-special seasonal events.  We also offer local bus trips, picnics, educational field trips, and other excursions on a regular basis in and around Vancouver.

Regular activities include: music, art, and horticulture therapy, pastoral care, daily exercise classes, as well as yoga once a week. We also have regularly scheduled bingo, carpet bowling, games night, movie night, dinner entertainment, manicures, current events discussion, Bible study, computer classes, outreach library services from Vancouver Public Library, classical music, hand chimes, choir practice and Saturday afternoon pub with live entertainment.

Haro Park is home to many wonderful pets.  We have Caleb our dog, many birds, and 3 cats all living in harmony.  Pet therapy is an integral part of an Eden home.  Companion animals provide the opportunity to give meaningful care to other living creatures; pets also bring variety and spontaneity which help to create an enlivened environment that often succeeds where medications and therapies fail.

There are two fish tanks at Haro Park.  The tank on the main floor contains several varieties of tropical fish.  This was generously donated by the Netherlands Business Society.  Our longest surviving 'fish' are two sharks (donated by family members) which have been raised from young; these fish is a constant source of enjoyment for all.  The second floor voted for an aquarium on their floor.  This aquarium is maintained by elders and staff.

There are several birds throughout the building. The birds on the main floor include a cockatiel named Joey and 4 budgies.  Cuddles and Sylvia, both budgies, live on the third floor, and Sophie, a cockatiel, was donated to the 4th floor.  All the birds add acoustic pleasure to our environment.
